Four Ways to Rock the Crop Top/Skirt Combo

Skirts are lengthening while shirts are shrinking. As odd as it seems, celebs have been cropping up (pun intended) everywhere in long feminine skirts with a matching mini top.  Kim Kardashian, Shailene Woodley, Miranda Kerr and others have dabbled in the trend. Here are a few more practical ways to try the style out for yourself.

 1)   If making a huge statement isn’t your thing, try a muted color. Kim Kardashian tones it down—if that’s possible for Kim—in all white. article-0-1C3AB34900000578-21_306x738

2)    Cover up! Jamie Chung adds a fun leather jacket that pulls the eyes away from the midriff.

3)    Still nervous about being too out there? Ditch the matchy-matchy look to take things down a notch. Coordinate colors or mix totally different ones, like Anne Hathaway.

4)    Who said a crop top had to be involved? Tuck your top into a lady-like skirt for a classic look. Or work it like Solange and add the matching element through the jacket.

Fashion Icon of the Month – Audrey Hepburn

This April, we are going back in time and choosing Audrey Hepburn for Manchester PR’s pick for Fashion Icon. I’ve adored Ms. Hepburn since the 8th grade, when my English teacher decided I choose her for a biography project (in which we had to dress up as said icon) on the basis that I resembled her. I had no idea who she was at the time – and I am still grateful everyday that my eyes were opened to this beauty.

Lupita Close Up

This March, Lupita Nyong’o is Manchester PR’s pick for Fashion Icon. The Kenyan actress has made a huge splash on the Hollywood scene, despite being an unknown as recently as six months ago—her now famous and Oscar-winning film debut in 12 Years a Slave put her on the radar. Her work in 12 Years a Slave and her current appearance in Non-Stop, which also stars Michelle Dockery and Julianne Moore, means that Nyong’o has recently made numerous press appearances, including the major red carpet events of the season.

Undoubtedly, Oscar night is the most important Hollywood event of the year. And this year at the 86th Annual Academy Awards, our favorite celebrities stepped out in custom gowns, shoes and donned jewelry most of us can only dream about.

Seasoned Oscar-goers like Meryl Streep and Jennifer Lawrence always dress to impress, and this year was no exception. Though there were some newer faces to Hollywood that stole the limelight like Lupita Nyong’o.

There was a lot of neutral tones on the red carpet, and certainly a handful of reds and blues. Just about everyone’s accessories were perfection this year. And the common theme seemed to be, less is more, and I couldn’t agree more!

Yves Saint Laurent at Paris Fashion Week

To me, the Saint Laurent Fall/Winter 2014 collection presented at Paris Fashion Week yelled sophisticated party. The proportions were perfect and the silhouettes were sleek with a little volume, added here and there. Some looks were understated, yet worldly and others were completely styled in and of themselves.
